Health takes a backseat…

Something interesting happened the other day…

I was at an information session a couple of weeks ago at VISION Personal Training in Drummoyne, Sydney. The session was focusing on goal setting.

I was there to contribute to the segment by talking about how you can harness the power of your imagination to achieve your goals. I ended the session with teaching a really powerful imagery technique.

The session focused on the importance of breaking down goals, having solid reasons why you want that goal and making your health a priority.

This is when the discussion became more interesting…

The participants were asked to answer this question “Who had health as their number 1 priority in their life?”

Now this is scary…of the 30 people there only 6 people put their hand up…

That’s only 20%!

Unfortunately, I wasn’t really surprised…I was disappointed!

Three of the top causes of death in the world are heart disease, vascular disease and diabetes. Despite all the information available we have available on how to lead a healthier life the human race as a whole is still so unhealthy!

This is one of the reasons why I’m so passionate about working with people to develop better health habits.

Why isn’t health most people’s number one priority?

Our bodies are so resilient and capable, but we expect it to keep going. Without the rest and recovery it needs. Without really paying it much attention. Without listening to what it needs. Without nurturing it.

We push and push. Until our body pushes back and we end up in pain, sick or injured!

If you’re not already….I encourage you to start paying more attention and start listening to what your body needs.

Be kinder to yourself…

Until next time, remember…YOU have the power to steer your own course in life.
